Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Adults

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder determined by the presence of symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, behaviors that do not match the person's developmental stage. It is commonly linked to childhood, however, research and clinical studies show that it can remain throughout the individual's life, significantly affecting various areas such as work, social relationships and emotional well-being. This article discusses the manifestations of ADHD in adulthood, taking into account the diagnostic criteria and the different treatments used to alleviate the effects of ADHD in adults. In addition to the morbidity associated with other psychiatric disorders, which generates difficulties in the identification of the condition and appropriate treatment.
