Importancia del Ejercicio y Deporte en el Bienestar Emocional y Físico

Este artículo reflexiona sobre cómo la actividad física no solo favorece al cuerpo, sino que también constituye un potente instrumento para el bienestar emocional. En un escenario en el que la depresión y la ansiedad son dificultades habituales que impactan a millones, resulta vital comprender esta relación. La OMS estima que aproximadamente 264 millones de personas sufren de depresión en todo el mundo., lo que resalta la imperiosa necesidad de establecer estrategias eficaces para su prevención.
Diversas investigaciones han evidenciado que el ejercicio físico influye positivamente en la salud mental. Una revisión sistemática determinó que la actividad física puede tener la misma efectividad que los fármacos antidepresivos en la terapia de la depresión. Este fenómeno es resultado de una mezcla de factores biológicos y psicológico; la actividad física incrementa la generación de neurotransmisores como las endorfinas y la serotonina, fundamentales para controlar el humor. Además, el ejercicio ayuda a potenciar la autoestima y la autoconfianza, factores esenciales para aquellos que lidian con problemas emocionales.
