Abstract

Stress is an innate reaction of the body to adverse circumstances, which becomes chronic when it can affect mental health. This stress stimulates the endocrine system by releasing hormones such as cortisol. Stress can impact cognitive functions, hindering concentration and memory. Choices can become more complicated and the learning process is hindered. This cognitive decline can lead to a detrimental cycle in which poor stress management leads to more stress. Social isolation is another common effect; individuals with stress often distance themselves from their relationships, which can further worsen their mental health disorders. To manage stress, it is possible to adopt dangerous behaviors such as excessive substance use or emotional nutrition, which will aggravate the situation.
