A Negative Impact on Feminism: An Analysis Of Contemporary Challenges and Structural Barriers

Abstract

Although feminism has been a transformative movement seeking gender equality, it has faced structural obstacles and modern challenges in recent decades that have hindered its progress. This article examines how feminism has been diverted from its goals by commercial interests, internal movement division and cultural resistance. In addition, it analyses how reactionary movements have lost legitimacy and mobilization due to the spread of misinformation on social media. It identifies the main challenges facing the feminist struggle and proposes solutions through a critical literature review and case studies. The growth of feminism has been influenced by globalization and digital media, which has allowed its discourse to spread globally, but has generated internal conflicts as it has adapted to diverse socio-economic and cultural situations. Although social media has facilitated mobilization, it has also been used to spread opposing discourses, which has divided the movement. This article seeks to improve understanding of how current dynamics have affected feminism's ability to adapt and remain united, raising the need for a strategic and unified approach to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
