Ecotourism “The Hope of Tourism”

Abstract

The article links ecotourism to a hopeful path to reactivating tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has drastically impacted the global economy, particularly the tourism industry. All sectors have suffered due to the pandemic, leading to the closure of many businesses worldwide. This is why each country sees an opportunity to slowly reactivate domestic tourism through ecotourism. Furthermore, it offers an alternative way to appreciate natural wonders, promoting a national brand and strengthening identity through culture and nature. Given that this type of tourism will be a favorite among many tourists, preventative biosecurity measures must be adopted to protect the communities living in these rural areas, as they are highly vulnerable populations and should not be put at risk. Meanwhile, the national economy is moving towards a greener and more humane economy through sustainable tourism. Strategies are being developed to create contagion-free spaces so that tourists can enjoy other types of tourism. Finally, the article discusses the need for national unity within the tourism sector to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
