Cultural tourism as a tool for preserving heritage in Norte de Santander

Abstract

The present project aims to promote the preservation of the heritage of Norte de Santander through cultural tourism by designing a sustainable cultural tourism route. The proposal integrates municipalities with high historical and cultural value, such as Cúcuta, Villa del Rosario, Pamplona, Ocaña, Chitagá, and Playa de Belén, highlighting their main heritage attractions, traditions, and cultural manifestations. That is why strategies are proposed related to tourism promotion, community participation, and the implementation of technological tools such as QR codes, digital content, and participation in national and departmental fairs with the purpose of strengthening the tourist experience and increasing the visibility of the destinations. In addition to the above, the project seeks to generate economic and social benefits for local communities through sustainable tourism, promoting the conservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and strengthening regional identity.
