The digital audiovisual resources used by teachers in secondary education

Abstract

With ICT within the reach of humanity and after a global pandemic, education has undergone a major transformation, which has led teachers to seek more technological environments to educate, being audiovisual communication one of the most sought after means for this purpose. This article aims to know the use of audiovisual resources by secondary school teachers of the Manuel Antonio Rueda Jara school of Villa del Rosario in Norte de Santander, Colombia. A quantitative methodology was used by means of a survey conducted in 2022 through the Google Forms platform. The results obtained indicate that teachers are receptive and interested in introducing the use of videos and other digital audiovisual resources in the classroom, although in practice they are using very few tools of this type. The study underscores the need to provide support and training to educators so that they can efficiently use technology in the classroom, which will allow them to renew in a relevant way in the methods of instruction. The successful integration of audiovisual resources not only ensures greater motivation and engagement with students, but also opens up new opportunities for training and adaptation to different learning styles. In short, this study highlights the importance of promoting the use of technologies in education, although there is still a digital divide, it is necessary to implement changes in the acquisition of knowledge in order to achieve significant innovation in teaching.
