The clinical mathematical strategy in the learning of calculus in first semester students of International Business.

Abstract

This article shows the results of the research called influence of the clinical mathematical strategy in the counseling and learning of calculus in international commerce students, whose objective was to evaluate the influence of the strategy in the counseling and learning of calculus of first semester students of International Commerce of a university in the city of Cúcuta. A quantitative methodology was used for its development. The information was collected through the application of a knowledge test consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions with a single answer, applied both at the beginning and at the end of the process. Likewise, the Honey Alonso test was used to recognize the learning styles of the participants. Finally, in order to understand how the strategy impacted the study group, a satisfaction survey was applied. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the mean, mode and median statistics, as well as using statistical bar graphs and box-and-whisker plots. For the contrast of hypotheses, the nonparametric Wilcoxon rank test was used. It was concluded that the strategy was effective and enhanced the mathematical knowledge of the participants. Likewise, the group was motivated and showed a good level of satisfaction.
