Homoparental adoption: The road to inclusion in Colombia

Abstract

Homosexuality has always been an issue that generates controversy and is historically associated with hate hate speech and discrimination. Now, talking about homosexual people adopting is a topic that is deeply rooted in all these facts and that in turn for others is an issue that should not be debated or questioned, but should be able to be completely for the freedom of the individual and the rights he posseses, therefore, it will be a topic to be discussed around this article.  "A part of social progress implies understanding that a person is not defined solely by their sexuality, race or gender" (EL PAÍS, 2014). The orientation of an individual must not be a reason for inequality, the rights of citizens must be imposed against any prejudice, cooperating with the security and acceptance of the same in the social environment, being aware that the State is in charge of providing it. Homosexuality is an issue that involves various setbacks, however, none has enough weight to not recognize these individuals as rights bearers. Children understand  diversity and are able to distinguish their environment, according to studies carried out in the United States, Belgium and the United Kingdom have shown that the psychological aspects and development of children is very similar, differentiated only by the stigmatization they suffer as external cause of his Homoparental family nucleus. The periodic oppression, marginalization and discrimination towards the different minorities is nothing more than the inhibition of their fundamental rights, which are present, but must be vindicated.
