Abstract

With the onset of the fourth industrial revolution the world has been faced with the emergence of new technologies that have brought a positive impact on people's daily lives. The importance and the need to identify research trends related to smart ports for academic and operational purposes are the objective of the present work. For this purpose, the tree metaphor methodology was implemented and, specifically, the network analysis in the definition of the most relevant topics and the practices that enhance and define them. The results highlight that the challenges in improving logistics operations in each link of the supply chain have developed new dynamics in the framework of the 4.0 revolution. In this scenario, automated ports have emerged as a strategy to meet customer needs through the implementation of technological advances.
