This study emerged from the need to advocate for sustainability strategies in high mountain ecosystems, which function as critical territories for water regulation, biodiversity conservation, and the preservation of traditional cultural practices, but are currently affected by climate change, intensive productive activities, and unplanned tourism. The research was designed to understand how artisanal tourism and traditional weaving practices can enhance territorial sustainability and the conservation of high mountain ecosystems in the Province of Pamplona from the perspective of the circular economy. A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach was employed, supported by document review, analysis of development plans and territorial planning schemes, and a multiple case study conducted in the municipalities of Mutiscua, Chitagá, Cácota, and Pamplona, together with non-participant direct observation among communities engaged in artisanal production. The findings show that activities related to sheep farming, spinning, natural dyeing, and wool weaving contribute to cultural sustainability, territorial identity, and the local economy, while sustainable tourism and the circular economy represent opportunities for the conservation of páramo ecosystems and the promotion of regional development. However, challenges persist regarding institutional coordination, community participation, and investment in infrastructure. It is concluded that artisanal tourism and the circular economy constitute viable strategies to strengthen community resilience and promote development models balanced between environmental conservation and social well-being.
