Abstract

This article falls within the field of management sciences. The objective is to present a critical analysis of strategic planning from the perspective of various authors, adopting a research-based and proactive approach. This is achieved through a comprehensive literature review of sources consulted in databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science, among others, examining various scholarly articles on the main critiques and reflections regarding strategic planning. The paper examines the fallacies of prediction, formalization, and detachment, as these are characteristics of traditional planning as opposed to strategic thinking. It concludes that the discipline must shift from mechanical or traditional planning toward purposeful strategic planning that is agile, inclusive, and grounded in real-world assessments rather than motivational slogans, while making appropriate use of technology.
